Value proposition

A value proposition is a short statement of the benefit a product delivers, to whom, and why it's a better choice than the alternatives.

Why it matters

Buyers don't compare you with nothing. They compare you with what they do today. A clear value proposition answers why they should switch, which is the question most landing pages leave open.

How to get it right

  • Name the audience and the problem in their words.
  • Say the outcome, not the feature list.
  • Say what it replaces and why it's better.
  • Back it with one specific: a number, a customer, a comparison.

Common mistakes

  • Generic claims that could describe any product: "powerful", "all-in-one", "modern".
  • Leading with how the product works instead of what it does for the buyer.
  • Several value propositions competing on the same page.
